Dr. Sumaira Kanwal is an Associate Professor of Molecular Genetics at COMSATS University, Sahiwal, and serves as a Collaborative Research Co-Group Leader in collaborative scientific initiatives at GICBES. She earned her Ph.D. from Kongju National University, South Korea, where she developed a strong foundation in molecular genetics and advanced genomic technologies. Her research primarily addresses neuromuscular and neurological disorders, with a focus on leveraging next-generation sequencing (NGS), clinico-genomics, and CRISPR-based therapeutic approaches to better understand disease mechanisms and identify potential treatment strategies.
In her role as a Collaborative Research Co-Group Leader, Dr. Sumaira provides critical expertise in study design, genomic data interpretation, and the integration of bioinformatics tools for translational research. She actively collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative, data-driven solutions for complex genetic disorders, ensuring that research outcomes align with clinical applications and precision medicine goals
