About our group

The BioElectrochemical Synthesis & Applications Group (BESAG) is dedicated to advancing innovative research at the intersection of chemistry, biology, and electrochemical sciences. Our mission is to explore, design, and apply bioelectrochemical approaches for sustainable synthesis, environmental remediation, and biomedical innovations.

BESAG focuses on the integration of electrochemical methods with biological systems to enable green and efficient routes for producing value-added compounds, nanomaterials, and energy solutions. Through collaborative and interdisciplinary research, the group seeks to address pressing global challenges, including:

  • Sustainable Synthesis: Developing environmentally friendly bioelectrochemical strategies for the synthesis of organic molecules, nanomaterials, and functional biomaterials.
  • Environmental Applications: Harnessing bioelectrochemical systems for wastewater treatment, pollutant removal, and resource recovery.
  • Biomedical and Health Solutions: Designing electroactive nanostructures and biosensors for diagnostics, therapeutics, and drug delivery.
  • Energy and Sustainability: Advancing microbial fuel cells, electro-fermentation, and bioelectrocatalysis for clean energy generation and storage.
